Anna Lluveras majored in Chemical Science at the University of Barcelona (UB), Spain, in 2003. She worked as a research staff member at the University of Barcelona from 2003 until 2005. She obtained her PhD in July 2009 at the University of Barcelona (Departament de Cristal•lografia, Mineralogia i Dipòsits Minerals). The thesis entitled “Development of Gas Chromatographic/Mass Spectrometric procedures and Synchrotron Radiation based techniques for the study of painting materials in works of art” is focused on the improvement of analytical techniques for the study of historical and archaeological paintings. During her PhD she has been used to work with several techniques (SEM-EDS, XRD, FTIR, GC-MS, Py-GC-MS, SR based techniques). After her PhD she has been involved as a post-doc fellow at the University of Pisa (2009-2010) where she currently holds a post-Doc Marie Curie position. The project she is involved in is named Saccharide Materials In Paint Systems: Nature, Occurrence And Physicochemical Evolution (SYNOPYE, PIEF-GA-2009-253831). The research will focus on the fundamental study of the occurrence, nature and physicochemical evolution of saccharide materials within painting systems. The proposed project combines mainly gas-chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and thermoanalysis on polysaccharides. The project is associated to an Intra-European Fellowship (IEF) in the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union of the Research Executive Agency for Support for training and career development of researchers.
