Francesca Sabatini awarded a master degree cum laude in Analytical Chemistry at University of Pisa in 2014 with a thesis on the identification of natural anthraquinoid lakes in paint samples by HPLC-DAD-MS and MALDI-MS techniques. She completed her Ph.D. in 2019 and her project was related to the ageing and fading phenomena of synthetic organic dyes and pigments investigated by a wide plethora of analytical techniques based on chromatography, mass-spectrometry, spectroscopy and electrochemistry. Part of her thesis project was developed in collaboration with several national and international research institutes such as the University of Amsterdam and the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of Prague. The results of her works were presented at numerous international conferences and published in several peer-reviewed journals. Her current research is focused on the identification and characterization of synthetic dye and pigments in contemporary artworks and of natural dyes in different kinds of raw materials, ancient textiles and paintings.
